Your digital media

Documents

Photos

Videos

What is a digital asset?

Items with monetary value

Items with sentimental value

Cryptocurrency, intellectual property, domain names

Digital photos/videos, cloud storage, social media accounts

For some services, memorial/legacy/successor accounts exist

This is the sort of thing that should probably be in a will. I'm not a lawyer, so I'm going to stay out of this.

Don't forget! You can still create more!

What is your digital legacy goal?

Where is your stuff?

What do you need to do?

Practical stuff

Bill paying, bank stuff

Passwords, keys, etc

This stuff should be in a will. You should probably make one.

Collect, Connect, Reflect, Select, Protect -

It's not all about you, right?

Family, friends, groups, and others

Fitting your stuff into everyone else

Geneology

Useful to contextualize your digital legacy

There are websites that do this, but I consider this out of scope for this session.

Code!

Are you the random dude from Nebraska? dependency https://xkcd.com/2347/

You know, you should probably improve your documentation.....

If you have web sites or apps, do they depend on payments or external intervention to work? Did you write that down anywhere?

Groups

Are you the official secretary or historian of the group?

Share whatever you have with the person that keeps records! They might not have access to things you do.

It's not your job to be the official historian of everything!

Reasons that you might not have your current level of access to technology

Aphasia/brain stuff

Vision issues

Disabilities that affect your ability to type or use a mouse

Other stuff

The walled garden

Are you in a big company's walled garden? (Apple, Google, Microsoft, Amazon, Facebook, etc)

Are you happy with this?

De-clouding and using an independent manager
