Simple and engaging UI

Activity One

Repetition of English words.

Includes speech functionality which requires microphone access.

Words/phrases will be said, and will be repeated by the user.

The user then compares how it sounds with the original.

The user has the option to retry.

Activity Two

Memory learning.

This will show the user flashcards of words and their translations.

The user will be asked easy/short questions to test their memory.

Questions are repeated if answered wrong.

Activity Three

Speed/accuracy test.

The user will be given similar questions like in activity two, but will be timed.

The user is given a time at the end of the test and are encouraged to keep beating their time.

Like a game to make it more fun and rewarding for the user.

Scoring

+1 with every correct answer.

No points taken for wrong answer - but a 'life' is lost. User has three lives. When they run out, the test ends prematurely.

Sound effects

'Ding' noise for correct answer.

'Break' noise for incorrect, as user loses a life.

Cheering when user completes test/beats their previous time.

Animations

Confetti when tests complete.

GIFs of cartoon 'mascots' with each question; makes UI more fun.

Heart breaking animation when lives (hearts) are lost.

User Interface

Clean, but not plain.

Units are displayed as 'levels' rather than 'lessons'.

Colourful and fun.
