Under the tablecloth, it is advisable to put a protector or a pad to protect the table, cushioning the blows, avoiding that any mishap can spoil the table. The tablecloth, of course, should be clean, well ironed and should be white or a very light pale color.
- As for the cutlery, remember that the fork goes on the left, and the spoon and knife on the right. Do not forget the basic rule: they are placed in the reverse order of use. That is to say the first to be used on the outside and then successively the rest in strict order of use.
- The tableware, if it is not a very formal gathering, you can choose modern tableware, but as long as you have enough pieces for all your guests. Do not combine different types of tableware. Place a shallow dish and a deep dish (never a deep dish alone on the table). If you want to give it a more elegant touch, use under-plates or presentation plates.
- The glassware, as well as the tableware, should all be of the same model. Place two glasses, one for water and one for wine for simplicity. The water glass on the left and the wine glass on the right. They are placed in front of the plate, at the top.
