free morphmeme
Definition: units that can stand alone by themselves and can carry meaning as a word
Examples: picture, mountain, tree
What they are not: Free morphemes are no bound morphemes, they are not attached to a prefix or suffix

Natural Order Hypothesis
people acquire parts of a a second language in a natural order. This hypothesis applies to acquiring and first and second language.
What it is not: It is not being taught a language. We can teach students the grammatical morphemes, but they have to acquire them on their own and they are acquired in a specified order.
Example: According to the natural order hypothesis, learners acquire the grammatical morpheme -ing before the morpheme third person -s.
cognates
Words that come from the same root - words in two languages that share a similar meaning, spelling, and pronunciation

Structural Analysis
What is it: A methode of teaching vocabulary where words are divided into parts to discover their meaning.

What it is not: memorizing vocabulary words using flash cards or other similar methods
cultural diversity / bias
cultural diversity is the existence of various cultures within an area or society
cultural bias is judging someone based on their culture.
Examples of cultural diversity: religious, language, disability, race
Examples of cultural bias: not hiring someone based on where they are from, not understanding nuances of others culture (eye-contact)

The opposite: The opposite of cultural diversity would be to segregation where everyone looks the same and has the same background and ability.
The opposite of cultural bias would be accepting everyone no matter what they are like
