Sewage Sludge Treatment Southern Water
Improving efficiency of energy from waste and current infrastructure
Nanobubble technology in pretreatment of sewage sludge to increase sedimentation and reduce longer chain oil compounds - increase the purity the sludge
HTC tecnology implemented to Current AD plants to deal with Digestate on site - converts digestate into Hydrochar, more easily transportable, water resistant and less toxic than sewage digestate
Hydrochar to be collected and put into gasifiaction chamber to create hydrogen
Green hydrogen prodced and stored or used to create clean burning fuel
ash from process used as fertiliser, now free of microplastics and PFP chemicals
Biogas production increased due to Nanobubble technology (potential increase of output by 15%)
hydrochar to be sold to powerplants as a coal alternative
CO2 produced to create food grade or used in industry
CO2 captured in seaweed.
Plastic degradation and breakdown
Growing plastic degradation strain of mushroom - training it to make it more efficient
strain used in lab conditions and racked conditions to increase mycelium breakdown to a level that can be scaled
Mycelium produced has broken down plastic into biological material - mycelium can then be sold to other AD facilities as a feedstock.
Mycelium research lab focussing on growing strains for use outside in the field and as natural water way filters
mycoremediation reseroivrs and river 'filters' to focus on farmland run off.
utilise a two part methodology involving enzyme to breakdwon the plastic to a more biolocial compound for easier mushroom breakdown
Improving Water quality in river systems
Nanobubble clean up - using nanobubbles in water that is being processed and pumped back into water ways. increases speed of sedimentation as larger molecules drawn to naoobubble
a. Using ‘Bubble barrier’ and ‘nanobubble technology to remove plastic and detritus from rivers in the southern water capture areas
b. Cleans plastic and microplastics from waterways and focusses them in specific spots on the waters edges for collection
Sewage run off prevention strategy - eco reservoirs
Reservoirs to house and grow native oyster and mussels as ‘filter fish’ to be used as natural water filters in ‘oyster reefs’ thast are then planted in rivers across area at key locations
Ethical pearl farming
Seaweed growing reservoirs to further clean water as fuel source, carbon capture by pumping CO2 into reservoir and to be grown for plastic alternative technologies
Seaweed grown for pharmaceutical purposes or plastic alternative technology.
Building of reservoirs that utilise algae for growing as both a carbon capture device and to be used as a fuel source
