MOTION GRAPHICS MASTERCLASS
ANIMATION BASICS
Setting Up Your Workspace Preferences
Edit menu > General:
Uncheck "Default Spatial Interpolation to Linear"
Uncheck "Default Position Properties to Separated Dimentsions"
Check "Center Anchor Point in New Shape Layers"
Edit menu > Display > Check "All Keyframes"
LOOPING ANIMATIONS
Change the anchor point
: Select the layer > Select Pan Behind (Anchor Point) Tool (Y)
=> To make the anchor point stick to the corners of the layer: Giữ Ctrl và di chuyển
Tạo
hiệu ứng giật nhanh giật chậm (Cho Rotation, Opacity,... gì cũng được)
: select all the keyframes, right click on one of the keyframes > Keyframe Velocity > Influence (ở cả 2 ô) đổi thành 75% (recommended value)
CREATE A GIF
At the bottom of the Composition panel:
Toggle Transparency Grid
để xem background thực sự (màu xuất hiện có thể chỉ là màu của Background chứ không phải là 1 shape thực sự)
=>
The background doesn't render for GIF
=> You need to
create a solid color layer for background
:
(In the Composition or Layer panel) Right click on somewhere empty > New > Solid (select comp size) > Select Color
OR Layer (menu) > New > Solid
=> Make sure "Make Comp Size"
RENDER
: Composition (menu) => Add to Adobe Media...
First dropdown: Animated GIF
Second dropdown: Animated GIF (Match Source) (match source means it will take the dimensions of your comp)
COMBINE ANIMATION COMPS
Create a new comp of the a size that can contain all other comps (view in Composition Settings for the component comps); Make sure the Pixel Aspect Ratio is "
Square Pixels
"
Select the component comps from the Project panel and drop them to the newly created comp
Use Scale property to resize them
Use Align to position them
IMPORT VECTOR FILES TO AFTER EFFECTS
Import As "
Composition - Retain Layer Sizes
"; Uncheck "
Ilustrator/PDF/EPS Sequence
"
Make the Layers' time fit the Timeline:
Select the layers > Press End for the playhead to come to the end of the timeline > Select all the layers > Press Alt + ]
ANIMATING WITH TRANSFORM PROPERTY
Change the
label color of some layers
(to differentiate): select them > Right Click on the square to the right of the layer and choose the color
For
the sun to rotate from one side to another in a curve
: Move its anchor point (Ctrl + move => this will move the anchor point around the center
Move the playhead by 1s (for eg) in the timeline
: Click the time indicator in the top of the Layer panel > Enter +100 (1s, 00f)
EASING AND SPEED GRAPH

Types of Easy Ease:
Easy Ease: to ease speed coming both into and out of selected keyframes
Easy Ease In: to ease speed
coming into selected keyframes
Easy Ease Out: to ease speed
coming out of selected keyframes
Different Incoming Speed and Outgoing Speed
: same keyframe, different speeds coming in and out (it will be a bit problematic => to remove, just select them all and Easy Ease)
To
unite the incoming and outgoing speed in a keyframe
:
Select it, right click > Keyframe Interpolation > Change Temporal Interpolation to Continuous Bezier
OR Select it, right click > Keyframe Velocity > Check "Continuous (Lock Outgoing to Incoming)
Select all the keyframes (POSITION, ROTATION) and
Change the Keyframe Velocity
to 65-75%
PRACTICE - NEW DAY-NIGHT VLIAAGE
Edit menu => Keyboard Shortcuts => Find the "Maximize Panel" keyword (bên cạnh phín 1 bên trái)
Click vào Timeline panel => Dùng Maximize Panel shortcut để xem full panel
Turn on Continuous Rasterize for all layers
: để các vector layers dù có Zoom In to vẫn không bị nhòe
Easy Ease
: Select all keyframes
Keyframe Velocity: Select all layers will not work for Keyframe Velocity
=> Select all layers, Press U to show all keyframes, Select all layers, Press S =>
Show only those with Scale animation
(Tương tự với các Properties khác) => Right click on one keyframe > Keyframe Velocity
=> Đổi Keyframe Velocity cho cả các layers có Position và Opacity animation

Position property: Value graph has two lines - one for X, one for Y
Modifying the Value Graph of Position => Change the Motion Path
Right Click on the Layer > Separate Dimensions > X and Y will be separated into two properties
MOTION PATH ANIMATION WITH SPEED GRAPH
ADJUST THE MOTION PATH IN SPACE
In each keyframe on the motion path, there are two
Bezier Handles
which,
by default
, connect to each other (hai cái handles nằm trên cùng 1 đường thẳng => these are called "
Continuous Beziers
"
To
disconnect the two handles of a keyframe (they will not be in the line any more)
, select the keyframes (you can click the property to select them all), right click one of them > Keyframe Interpolation > Spatial Interpolation to "Bezier"
ADJUST THE MOTION PATH IN TIME
Go to the Speed Graph
To lock the keyframes (
convert them to "Continuous Bezier" with two handles being connected
): Select them, right click on one of them
Keyframe Velocity > check "Continuous (Lock...)"
OR
Keyframe Interpolation: change Temporal Interpolation to "Continuous Bezier"
Đảo chiều của parabol trong Speed Graph (để quả bóng lên đỉnh thì speed thấp nhất):
Note:
First and last keyframes should not be Continuous Bezier
(the motion will be abnormal) => Should be Bezier keyframes
Select the keyframes in between (except 1st and last) => convert to Continuous Bezier
Click on the Position property
=> All keyframes are selected => drag them upwards (manually adjust the last one as it is not moving
Speed reaching the top should not hit 0
