Centering Your Learning:
set of three strategies helps learners to converge their attention and energies on certain language tasks, activities, skills, or materials.
Overviewing and Linking with Already Known Material
Overviewing comprehensively a key concept principle, or set of materials in an upcoming language activity and assocating it with what is already known.
example: Overviewing: Begin by skimming through the Python programming language documentation or a beginner's guide to Python
Paying Attention
Deciding in advance to pay attention in general to a language learning task and to ignore distractors (by directed attention), and or to pay attention to specifc aspects of the language or to situational details
example: Active Listening. Focus your attention. on the speaker's words, tone, and body language.
Delaying Speech Production to Focus on
Listening Deciding in atonce to delay spech production in the new language either totally or partialy until listening comprehension skills are better developed
example : Set the intention Before the discussion begins remind yourself of the importance of active listening and understanding different perspectives
Arranging and Planning Your Learning
This set contains six stategies, allof which help learniers to organize and plan so as to get the most out of language learning.

Identifying the Purpose of a Language Task
Deciding the purpose of a particular language task involving listening, reading speaking or willing
example: Grammar: Writing a chart story requires the use of various grammatical structures and tenses
Organizing
Understanding and using conditions related to optimal learning of the new language, organizing one's schedule physical ematonman
example: Form a planning committee. Gather a group of dedicated individuals who are interested in helping with the event.
Planning for a Language Task Planning for the language elements and functions
necessary for an anticipated language task or Situation
example: Determine the Objective Clanry the specific goal of the listening comprehensions exercise. For example, the objective might be to Improve understanding spoken French m everyday conversations or to enhance comprehension of specific topics, such as news or podcast
Finding Out About Language Learning
Making efforts to find out how language leaming work by reading books and talking with other people, and then using this information to help improve one's own language learning
example: Explore language learning websites Visit popular language learning websites like Duolingo, Babbel, Rosetta Stone, or Memrise.
Seeking Practice Opportunities Seeking out or creating opportunities to practice
the new language in naturalistic situations such as going to e second foreign language cinema attanding a party where the language will be spoken or joining arcantemational social club
example: Language Exchange Meetups Look for ocal language exchange groups or meetups in your area where you can meet native Spanish Speakers who are learning your native language.
Evaluating Your Learning:
setare two related strategies, both aiding learers in checking their language performance.
Self-Evaluating
Evaluating one's on progres in the new language, for instance, by checking to see whether one is reading faster and understanding more than 1 month or 6 months ago or whether one is understanding a greater percentage of reach conversation.
example: Recording Practice Conversations: Use a
voice recorder or language learning app to record yourself during practice conversations in English Engage in dialogues or monologues on various topics, and make sure to capture a sufficient amount of spoken content for evaluation
Self-Monitoring
Identifying errors in understanding or producing the new language determining which ones are important (those that cause serious confusion or offense), tracking the source of important errors. and trying to eliminate such errors
example: Analyze Language Output Pay close attention to your own language output during speaking or writing activities. Monitor your sentences and analyze how you apply the targeted grammar skill,
