Vendor
A vendor (software in our case), is a company that develops and sells software. Most commonly, the term software vendors refers specifically to independent software vendors (ISVs), organisations that create solutions for use by the
larger market.

help provide an easier and quicker method of navigating and executing commands in computer software.
are performed using the Alt key (on Windows compatible computers), Command (on Mac computers), Ctrl key, or Shift key in conjunction with another key.
Examples for Mac:
Command+X: Cut the selected item and copy it to the Clipboard.
Command+C: Copy the selected item to the Clipboard. This also works for files in the Finder.
Command+V: Paste the contents of the Clipboard into the current document or app. This also works for files in the Finder.
Examples for Windows:
Crtl+X: Cut the selected item and copy it to the Clipboard.

In a workplace, it is essential to be able to solve both hardware and software problems using support resources including online help, manuals and training booklets.
Software issues can occur both in the operating systems (Windows, iOS) or in the applications that are used eg. Microsoft and Adobe programs
Hardware issues can also occur eg. keys not working, battery not charging
You need to be able to understand how and where to access and apply technical support in:
addressing system problems
using troubleshooting results
alert messages (refer to examples below)

A training booklet is a set of instructions used to improve the quality of a task, process, or job. Its ultimate goal is to provide employees all the tools and information they need to excel at their jobs. Eg. steps in completing specific tasks, how to use their computer systems, etc
Manual (documentation) is a book or pamphlet containing information about a program or piece of hardware. For example, a video game may come with a manual explaining how to play it.
Online help is the help file accessible for software applications or operating systems. It is integrated directly into the software interface by selecting an item on a Help menu. It provides information relating to general operation of the program as well as troubleshooting.
Technical support

Technical Support (Tech support):
refers to assistance that is provided to customers who require help with technical products such as hardware and software.
services usually provide users with help in solving some common problems rather than providing training on how to use the product.
can be provided either by an in-house team or can be outsourced to an agency for better results.
FIle management

File management refers to the process of organising, storing, and manipulating files on a computer system.
This can include organising stored files into folders, backing up files, and compressing files to save space (archiving).
Maintaining up-to-date records is vital for every organisation. Organisations use records and files to make decisions about the future and to ensure the organisation is complying with legal regulations.
Law requires that organisations maintain certain types of records; for example, taxation and personnel records.
Organisations can be fined if their records are not up to date.

Organisations must constantly gather new information and use their existing information in different ways to remain responsive to changes in the environment they operate in.
To do this, new records and files must be generated. These are sometimes completely new and sometimes a new record for an existing file.
If you are naming a new file, you must think about the names of files that already exist. This is the only way to ensure consistency and prevent duplication. Your organisation may have a file classification system that sorts files by codes or ID numbers. If this is the case, you may have to generate a new code, version no. or ID number for the new file.

This process can help prevent changes from being made to a document without the knowledge or approval of the document’s owner or other stakeholders.
Version control is important in documents because it allows you to track changes, see who made what changes, and roll back changes if necessary. This is especially important for documents that are shared among multiple people.
Backups and archiving data

Backup is for recovery from hardware failure or recent data corruption or loss
The main purpose of a backup is to restore your data to a previous point in time.
Archiving is for space management, compliance, risk aversion and long-term retention
Archives are intended to be used as repositories(storage) for data that needs to be kept for a long period of time but is not necessarily important for operational activities.
Most organisations will have a set of procedures or processes for the back up and archiving of data that they produce. Eg. copies of files, images, documents from projects. Make sure you are aware of them.
