Differences of Big 5&FFM
Structure: FFM when measuring domains, facets and behaviours of those domains are also measrued. Big 5 only masures the domain and make no additional claim to facets
Measurement: Big 5: pp rates how much the adje represents them, FFM more detailed, questions tapping into behavioural traits which are then linked to facets of domains
Empirical basis: FFM is a statistical model grounded in previous models (Eysenck). Big 5 descriptive model, used adjectives commonly used as description of traits, creating 5 main domains using factor analysis
Causality: FFM personality traits cause deviations in behaviour. Big 5 no causal statement, only descriptive traits
Origins: FFM (BIo) neurological process, genetic basis, stable overtime, across cultures, heritability. Big 5: Representation of language, discriptive no claims of orgins of traits.
FFM biological basis
Behavioural genetics
Loehlin et al (1998);Bouchard & McGue (2003), Weinshenk et al (2002): no evidence for shared environment, shared genetic contributions

Temporal Stability
-
Rank order stability: changes across the sample and their fit in the population stays the same. Overal personality is stable
