Lesson 6: Dimensions in drawings, Tolerances and Assembly.
-
Tolerances: Tolerance is very important in our dimensions as having exact dimensions are very difficult due to human and even machine error. Tolerance ensures that mating parts of an assembly interface can fit well together. To calculate tolerance, we use upper limit - lower limit.
-
Bilateral Tolerance: Two directions are allowed to vary from specified dimension. They need not vary by the same amount.
-
-
Assembly Modelling: It consists of multiple parts that are combined together to create a complex product representation.
Joints: A joint allows a component to move translationally (back and forth) along the X, Y, or Z axis or to rotate around one of these axes.
