Begin by carefully reading the text word for word.
Start by making a list of general questions or observation you gather from the text.

Read only what the text is saying.
Do not try to interpret the text or apply it to your life at this stage in the process.
Do not take anything away from the text.
Do not make presuppositions about what the text is saying.
Do not try to find the deeper meaning of the text.
Do not add anything to the text.
