        He establishes three functional units or blocks:
        
        First block or functional unit: unit. Regulates arousal or wakefulness. Located in the brainstem
        and medial regions
        
        Second block or functional unit: Receiving, processing and storing information.
        
        Third block or functional unit: The third functional unit fulfils specifically human functions which, due to the extent of its manifestations, can be said to constitute the neurobiological basis of personality.
- - - - 0-1 years:
        
        Motor and emotional impulsivity: Spontaneous and uncoordinated movements.
      - 1-3 years
        
        Sensorimotor: It moves to discover its surroundings.
      - 3-6 years
        
        Personalism: Need for self-affirmation and autonomy.
