the battle of the somme
The british generals (haig) sent there troops to attack the front lines of germans trenches because they were confident that there bomb shell destroyed the front lines ( they didnt) and they sent the troops straight into a slaughter were there were 60,000 casulties and 20,000 people died. this occured on the date of 1st july - 13 november 1916.

Germany could only have six battle ships in its navy and its army was reduced to 100,000 men

Germany lost all oversea colonies and they were given america, france and britain
Germany was not allowed to build any aeroplanes, submaries or tanks
Germany had to pay £6,600 million in reperations to the countries that won the war
Germany were forced to sign the treaty, and had no choice, they disliked it becasuse they were already in a economic crisis so they were even more in debt and they had to accept all the balme of the war and they belived that werent fully to blame for starting the war

Hitler
Hitler used the great depression to help his rise to power as the nazi's used it to boost suport from the germans. The great depression led to a huge rise in unemployment and Hitler used this to his advantage as he promised to lower that number significantly. Hitler also used peoples fear of communism to his advantage to gain power
Stalin
Stalin came to power becasue the Succsessor before him Lenin died and stalin was made head of the sovient union and the communist party. Lenin didnt want stalin to come into power because he thought stalin had to much power and he didnt know how to use it
Terror tactics
Dictators used peoples fear to enforce there rules such as they had a secret police which made sure people were following all the rules. Laws were also put in place which made things very differecult
Holocaust
The people of germany always had something against the jews and when hitler came in to power the discrimation got worse
Anti- jew laws
Jews had to wear a yellow star to tell people they are jews. They also Were taken to concentrtion camps or death camps, the most famous one was auswits.
