Director's intentions are further used to show the characters Alec and Isa’s relationship. This is shown when Alec strangles Isa in scene two when he throws her against the ground. After choking Isa, Alec is shown to become confused and scared as to why Isa is not waking up, as it is shown when he shouts for her name “Isa, Isa, Isa!” this is not shown in the script, making it unexpected and disturbing as if Isa was potentially dead, making it very powerful in terms of emphasising and highlighting the violence within their relationship and its deterioration.
