Dimension Tolerance and Assemblies
Dimension
1) Dimension Text (Usually in mm) but you would only write the numerical on the dimension while the unit will be indicated in the bottom corner of the drawing
2) Tolerance – (Plus minus 0.2) This defines how much the dimension is allowed to deviate.
3) Dimension Line – Must have arrowhead at both ends.
4) Extension Line – Make sure it doesn’t touch the object
5) Extension line offset – the space between the extension line and the surface of the object
Types of Dimension

Rules of Dimensioning
Dimension Once only
Avoid dimensioning hidden features
Dimension lines should not cross
Tolerance
Types of Tolerance
1) Bilateral Tolerance: allowed to vary in two directions from the specified dimension. Neither direction need not vary by the same amount.
2) Unilateral Tolerance: allowed to vary in only one direction.
3) Limit Tolerance: the upper and lower limits of the dimension are specified.
