Climate Change
Importance: as a result of unsustainable practices, like the increase in cattle grazing, and the increase in affluence causing a greater consumption of manufactured goods, climate change is happening at a much faster rate.
The issue that should be addressed: how we can increase our sustainability and reduce greenhouse gas emissions to slow down the rate of climate change.
Why the issue is addressed more frequently in society: rapidly growing populations across the world and increasing global affluence has increased the rate of climate change, which means that methods of reducing unsustainable practices are important.
Products in this category may meet the following criteria:
- Consider materials, if they can make the product biodegradable or recyclable, could be made from repurposing old products.
- Consider the impact on the environment, reducing the impact as much as possible once it has been disposed of.
- Encourage awareness, let people make decisions about sustainability on their own, leads into the 6 R's, especially 'refuse' to buy certain products that may negatively impact the environment.
- Growing own food, as this would reduce greenhouse gas emissions from transport.
Relating to growing food, products that could relate to this may be gardening tools, or plant pots that make for easy and efficient use for those who are new to growing plants.

Playing Games
Possible Purposes
Therapy: toys/games could include sensory aspects to reduce stress, having something that is very interactive may help with this.
Family: this is a category that encompasses many ages, so it must appeal to young children as well as older years. For young children to find a game appealing, it should be relatively simple to understand and play, as well as feature bright and eye-catchy aesthetics.
Education: for young children, learning may be more entertaining with the use of bright colours and patterns, involve different features such as texture, shape and use of sound.
Safety: often, as young children may use these products, it is important that they have no small parts that children may choke on and have no sharp edges. In addition, using lightweight materials would prevent harm if dropped, as well as make it portable - easy to move around and store.
Potential Problems: educational games may not be entertaining to incite learning, when gaming, there is often a lack of comfort.
