Southern Climate:Long Warm seasons , Fertile soil, farming
Northern Climate: Dominated by factories, more crowded, less agricultural.
Northern workforce: Assembly lines were used and factories with rough work conditions. Weren't paid a lot and focused a lot on manufacturing.

Southern Workforce: Agriculture based, Slavery, and plantations were made. They grew crops to trade with other countries.
Slavery

Enslaved people were discriminated against by not earning their freedom and being treated like animals and used to be forced into labor for rich white people.
Many people that were abolitionists were with the church because they believed that all of God's creation were all equal and deserved to be treated that way.

Uncle Tom's Cabinet
The Fugitive Slave Act was a law that anyone who was helping slaves earn their freedom would be in serious trouble.
Stowe wrote a Novel about slavery that showed the true colors and pulled at a lot of people's heart strings. This made many people feel bad and join the abolitionists.
Southerners were upset with the novel because it was from a Northerners point of view and not anything from the Southerners.

States Rights
The purpose of the federal government is balancing control in the states and making sure all of the peoples rights were protected.
The 10th amendment protects the states rights by saying that the government controls the Constitution and the rest belongs to the states. It keeps what belongs to the states there and doesn't let the government control them
The Fugitive Slave Act made Abolitionists mad because they weren't able to help slaves get their freedom without getting in serious trouble.

Sectionalism
The geographical differences of North and South are that the North is mostly factory and the South is more agriculture.
