Vertebrates can be classified in 5 different groups
Mammals
There are different kinds of mammals. Most of them live on land, some live in water(aquatic mammals) and a few such as the bat can fly
Most mammals have hair or fur on their bodies
Mammals are viviparous (the baby developes inside the mothers womb) and Young mammals drink their mothers milk
All mammals breathe air wiyh their lungs
Most mammalsr legs have fou
BIRDS
Birds have feathers
Birds breath air with their lungs
Birds are oviparous(born from the egg
Most birds can fly but a few cannot. Penguins cannot fly and use their wings to swim
Bird dont have teeth. They eat with their beaks
Some birds live on land and in the water. They have webbed feet to help them swim. For wxample ducks
Reptiles
Their skin is covered with scales
They breathe with their lungs
Most reptiles have four legs but snakes dont have legs
Most reptiles are terrestrial(live on land) but some are aquatic for example marine turtles
FISH
Fish are aquatic animals that cannot live outside water
Fish are oviparous animals
They are covered with scales
Baby fish called fry can swim as soon as they hatch from the egg
Amphibians
Amphibians have a bare skin
Amphibians are oviparous
Most amphibians have four begs and some have a tail
Adult amphibians breath through their lungs and their skin. For example frogs
Tadpoles are baby amphibians that live in water and breath through gills
All vertebrates have an internal skeleton made up of bones. The skeleton includes a backbone
A backbone consists of ring like bones called vertebrate
