VERTEBATES CAN BE CLASSIFIED IN 5 DIFFRENT GROUPS
VETEBRATE ANIMALS
All vertebrates have an internal skeleton made up of bones. The skeleton includes a backbone
A backbone consists of ring-like bones called vertebrate
MAMMALS
MAMMALS
Most mammals have hair or fur on their bodies
Mammals are viviparous ( the baby developes inside the mother¨s womb ) and Young mammals drink their mother´s milk
All mammals breathe air with their lungs
There are different kinds of mammals . Most of them live of land , some liver in water ( aquatic mammals ) and few such as the bat can fly
Most mammals have four legs
FISH
Fish 3are aquatic animals that cannot live outside water
fish are oviparous animals
They breathe air throught their gills
Baby fish. calledfry, can swim as soon as they hatch from the egg
They are covered with scales
REPTILES
they breathe with their lungs
Their skin is covered with scales
Most reptiles are terrestria ( live on land ) but some are aquatic , for example marine turtles
Most reptiles have four legs but snakes don´t have legs
BIRDS
Birds have feathers
Birds breath air with their lungs
Birds oviparous ( born from an egg )
Most birds can fly burt a few cannot . Penguins cannot fly and use their wongs to swim .
Birds don¨t have teeth. They eat with their beaks
Some birds live on land and in the water . They have webbed feet to help them swim. For example ducks .
ANPHIBIANS have a bare skin
Most Amphibians have four legs and some also have a tail
Adult amphibiansbreath throught their lungs and their skin. For example frogs
Amphibians are oviparous
Tadpolesare baby amphibians that live in water and breath throught gills
