A Level Physics OCR (A) 5.2 Circular Motion
5.2.1 Kinematics of Circular Motion
The Radian
A radian is a measure of an angle.
2π radians = 360 degrees
To convert from degrees to radians:
Divide by 360 then multiply by 2π
To convert from radians to degrees:
Divide by 2π then multiply by 360
Time Period/T
The time period measured in seconds
Is the time take to complete a full circle of motion
T = 1/F
Frequency/f
The frequency measured in Hertz (Hz)
Is the number of circles travelled per second.
f = 1/T
So ω = 2πf
Angular Speed/Velocity
Angular velocity is the rate of change of an objects angle around a circle.
Or the angle covered ever second
Measured in rad/s or rad s^-1
Symbol of ω lower case omega
ω = θ/t
For any circle θ = 2π
So ω = 2π/t
