UK effects of Inequality - Coggle Diagram

- - - - the difference in salary's between genders in the workforce with women earing less
        
        women earn 15.5% less than men in 2020 = 85p for every £1 a man makes in the exact same job
        
        according to Gov.uk the construction and finance sectors were the 2 worse sectors for gender pay gap
        
        construction = 25% gap
        
        finance = 22% gap
        
        this shows the effect of gender inequality for women because they earn less money for the exact same job positions as men
    - - this is when women are less likely to be promoted to senior positions
        
        evidence = 2015-2016 only 10% females were promoted compared to 14% men
        
        male managers = 40% more likely to be promoted than female managers in 2017
        
        in 2022 only 10 of the CEO'S in the FTSE100 were female.
      - these show the effect of workplace inequality that effect women because they are less likely to be promoted than men the further up the career ladder they are
- - - - this is due to concious and subconcious distcriminiation by employers who are less willing to hire people from ethnic minorities

        sent out 100 job applications from 2 fake people Mohammad Allam and Adam Henton = despite both men having the exact same qualifications and experience, Adam received 3x as many interviews as Mohamed.
        
        this shows that members of BAME face major economic inequalities compared to other groups since they get less job offers + have higher unemployment rates compared to whites due to distcrimination
  - - - example = 2018 Boris Johnson wrote an article with comments comparing Asian women who wear full face covers too post boxes.
      - example 2 = 2016 after vote to leave EU + string of terrorist attacks in London and Manchester = rise in reported racial hate crimes/attacks
      - shows how members of BAME face the effects of racial discrimination in the forms of hate crimes from petty comments too severe attacks and even murder
- - - - Attainment gap
        
        pupils from the most deprived areas achieve fewer qualifications than kids in affluent areas
        
        statistics show that pupils from poorest 20% of family's are 2x more likely too leave school with 0 highers compared to the richest 20%
        
        this shows that CIP face the effects of inequality = they are more likely to drop out of school with no highers + achieve lower qualifications than kids who are better off. = they will struggle in life + repeat the cycle
      - social exclusion
        
        tend to face exclusion from their peers because
        
        extra curricular + leisure activities e.g. sports are expensive for family's on tight budgets
        
        since the family's can't afford the sports = long term health impacts including obesity
        
        only 42% low income kids get enough exercise compared to 56% of kids from high income backgrounds
        
        poor mental health + lack of social skills + less life skills that can be transferred to work + learning
        
        because of lack of these skills + wearing non branded/ hand me down clothes CIP often get excluded socially e.g. bullied = cause bad mental health + less social skills
        
        this shows the CIP face the effects of inequalities because they suffer negative physical and social barriers due to missing out on social activities due to their parents financial state = leaves lasting consequences as adults
