Alfonso XIII became King of Spain. The regenerationism started.
1936
The Generals Mola, Sanjurjo and Franco give a military coup, but they failed. The Civil War started.
1923 - 1930
General Primo Rivera organised a coup and established a dictatorship
In 1930 Alfonso XIII forced General Primo Rivera to resign
1931
Alfonso XIII agree to have municipal elections. The republic won and the Second Republic was proclaimed
1939
In 1 April The Civil War end with the Rebels' victory. General Franco established a dictatorship.
1969
Franco named a successor, he chose Juan Carlos of Bourbon
1977
A new electoral law allowed to have elections. Suárez political party won.
1975
Juan Carlos I become King of Spain on 22 November. He announced the Transition of Spain: from a dictatorship to a democracy.
On 20 November, Franco died
1976
The King named Adolfo Suárez the Prime Minister. Suárez make many political changes
1978
The Constitution of 1978 was approved by the parliament and the Spanish people.
