file server
The main computer on a network. The file server manages services
across the network and holds data to be shared with other
computers.
The file server makes sure that only authorised users log on to the
system.
LAN
It is a set of computers which are connected together
over a small geographical area, usually within the same
building or on one site.
wan
It is a set of computers which are connected together
over a very large geographical area and this may include
different countries.
Cables
These plug into the back of each
computer and link the computers
together.
Switch
A Switch is a single connection point
for a group of computers and is
connected to the file server.
Network Interface Card a device which individual computers
need to connect to a network.
Router A device which allows the network to connect to the internet.
