- - - - Malware is short for Malicious Software designed to cause harm to a
      - computer system. It is usually downloaded onto a computer unintentionally by
      - using the internet or from email attachments.
      - Examples include:
      - Virus
      - Worm
      - Trojan Horse
      - Spyware
      - spaming: Sending ‘junk’ emails, e.g. adverts for products; as a result, the inbox
        becomes overloaded and time is wasted opening and reading such emails.
      - phishing: Sending emails that appear to be from a reliable source; these emails often
        ask the recipient to update their personal information by clicking a hyperlink.
- - - - Terminators at the end of the
        
        backbone. They are used to absorb the
        
        data and prevent data collisions.
      - If the backbone fails, the entire
        network will fail.
    - - Signals travel along the backbone in
      - both directions which can cause data
      - collisions.
  - - - Node will only accept the message if it
        is addressed to it.
      - Communication is in one direction only.
      - If one of the connected nodes fails,
        the network will fail.
  - - - Each device connects to a central node
      - All communication goes through the
        central node
      - Failing connection will only affect the
        device at the end of the connection
      - Failure of the central node will affect
        the entire network.
    - - Expensive peripherals can be shared
      - Users can share files
      - Users can log on to any computer to access their files
- - - - password: A unique code that enables a user to log on to a certain file.
