Should A.I Art Be Considered "real art"?
Hook
A.I art, while it is a 'drawing' its more perfect thanks to the help of the device/app your using.
" I don't paint dreams or nightmares, I paint my own reality." -Frida Kahlo
Ask yourself, have you ever seen digital art in a museum?
Argument #1 With A.I art you have all of the supplies to make it looks better.
You can animate your drawings, and alternate/change the physical appearance.
You have special brushes that can make different strokes and texture your drawing.
There is a lasso tool that helps you draw perfect circles
History and Background
One of the first significant AI art systems is AARON, developed by Harold Cohen beginning in the late 1960s at the University of California at San Diego.
IT USED TO be widely thought that creative work would be one of the last things to be automated. After 2022, some may reconsider.
Argument #2 You have different tools and extensions
If you make a mistake on A.I you can erase it or click an undo button, which makes it WAY easier if you mess up, therefore you can be more careless and not put in a lot of effort. Mean while in real art if you mess up, its hard to fix it and it could take a while.
You have layers on A.I art, so you can just add more details on without waiting for the "paint" to dry.
You can make your shapes identical and leveled and you can flip shapes, you don't have to STRUGGLE and erase multiple times just to get it perfect. Again you dont put in your all in the A.I art work, so I wouldnt consider it real art.
Argument #3 With A.I art you dont have to put in hours of time and effort for one art piece
A.I art you have the tools to make everything perfect, and you don't have to restart if you don't like the way it looks, you can just go back and undo or edit your mistakes
You have to wait for the real art to dry in order to add on more details, in A.I art you can just simply add a layer on top.
With real art, it takes hours, maybe even days to complete an art piece.
Thesis
A.I art shouldn't be considered real art because it makes it 10x easier to draw and make art. You have different tools and textured brushes to make your art look better.
A.I art shouldn't be considered real art because you don't put in as much effort as you would in a real painting and it doesn't take as long. I think it takes way more skill in making real art than just A.I art
Specialized Info
People had to PAINT self portraits back in the day, they had zero A.I technology to help them make the painting perfect
With real art it takes skill and talent and a whole load of practice.
A.I art is a new found technology unlike real art that has been happening for decades.
