The term "merchandising", is the result of joining the noun "merchandise", which means "merchandise" and the radical "ing", which expresses the action, that is, the action by which the product is placed in the consumer's possession, therefore we can define "merchandising" by saying that:
"It is the set of techniques aimed at making products available to the consumer, obtaining a return on the investment made in the establishment".
This means that, as long as there is retailing, in order to obtain certain benefits, there is "merchandising".
