Environmental Factors:
May increase their odds of getting certain diseases or conditions
Exposures: Society, poverty, where they live/work
Biological Factors: the inheritance of genes from biological parents
Genetic Factors: Sex, ethnicity, race, and age.
Determinants of Health
Economic: income, education levels, poverty, occupation
Political: Food and hospital deserts. Neighborhoods that aren’t safe. Transportation barriers. Poor environmental sustainability
Social: Conditions that affect an individual's livelihood like neighborhoods, poverty levels, housing, education, pollution, job availability, access to food and nutrition, as well as healthcare.
Ecological Perspective: the relationship of the individual and contextual systems
An individual and their environment.
How populations affect the ecosystem.
Animals affected by human populations' affects on their ecosystems
Globalization: interconnections of societies across the globe
Health Determinants in Population Health
Health inequalities: unequal distribution of access to healthcare, barriers to nutrition and care.
