DIRECTED mutagenesis: organisms can respond to environmental stresses by orthogenetically directing mutations to certain genes.
1; use for induction of cytoplasmic male fertility.
2; cheap and repair method developing new variety.
3: mutation breeding is more effective for improvement of oligogenic characters such as disease resistance than polygenic traits.
4: mutation breeding is simple, quick and best method than a new character is to be include in vegetatively propogated crops.
INSERTIONAL MUTAGENESIS: is the creation of mutagenesis is the creation of mutations of DNA by addition of one or more base pairs. such insertional mutations can occur naturally, mediated by viruses or transposons or can be artificially created for research purposes in the lab.
DISADVANTAGES
1: Most of mutations are deleterious and undesireable.. 2: identification of micro mutationss which are more useful to plant breeder is usually very difficult. 3: useful mutations are produced at a very low frequency , a very large plant population has to be screened to identify and isolate desireable mutatants. 4: mutations breeding has limited scope for genetic improvement.

SITE DIRECTED MUTAGENESIS; method that is used to make specific and intentional changes to DNA sequence of gene and gene product
TRANSPOSON MUTAGENESIS: is a biological process that allows genes to be transferred to a host organisms chromosome, interrupting the function of an exant gene on the chromosome and causing mutation.

1; Use to study changes in protein activity.
2: use to change specific amino acid in enzyme.
3: introduce or remove restriction endonucleases.
4: helps scientists to study the mechanisms of action of enzyme in invitro.
