I am going to throw away all the waste that I have brought on the table of students. (Degradable and non-degradable wastes).
• Teacher: Do you smell something? (Answers: yes) Where is it coming from? (Answers: From the waste that is on the table) Do you feel comfortable around them? (Answer: No madam)
-
-
• Teacher: Imagine that our earth is made up of waste. How would it look like? I want one of you to stand up, come in front and draw it on the board.
-
After that I will ask them to guess what we are going to learn and will write all the answers on the board.
Exploration
-
-
Teacher (instruction): Now I want you to work in a team and make something interesting using the non-degradable waste that you have put in the dustbin. When you are done say Bingo.
ELA: If they finish making it before time I am going to call one of the student form the group and will make them explain the process involved in it and how it will benefit the environment around them.
Follow up activity: I am going to show some model that I have prepared using the waste. I will let them volunteer and will tell him / her to come in front and guess the processes involved and how they will use it at home.
Explanation
-
-
I am also going to use those waste that I have brought in the class in order to make them understand more.
I am also going to explain the four Rs with examples and why is it important. Before explaining I am going to check whether they know what the four Rs are.
-
-
Elaboration
Let them realize what they can do to help manage waste and how it will affect them in their daily life.
Questions to be asked:
-
-
Imagine that you saw an educated person throwing a waste in a river. how will you react and what will you do to convince him?
Let them suggest some ways how they are going to imply the methods of four Rs at home and at school.
Question to be asked:
if you were school captain, how are you going to imply the 4 Rs practically?
Evaluation
To see whether they have understood or not I am going to ask one student to summarize the key points.
Teachers Instruction: This is the end of our lesson and I want one of you to summarize what we did and what you learned doing those activities.
-
-
As a home task I am going to tell them make one module using any waste and present it to the class tomorrow. The module that they have presented will be used at school later.
Teacher’s instruction: now this is your final task. Listen carefully. I want each and every one of you to make something using waste at your home and present it to the class tomorrow. Those who have made something interesting and unique will be rewarded. And the modules that you have made will be used in school later.
