period 3
Digestive enzymes
Maltose-Digest maltose
Lactase-Digest lactose
Surcase->Digest sucrose
Lipase-->Digest triglycerides in fatty acid+glycerol
Dipepsidase-Digest dipeptides into single amino acis
Major organs of the digestive system
Small intestine-->Long tubular organ where most chemical digestion and absorption of food takes.
Stomach-->A J-shaped, muscular pouch located in the abdomen; receives food from esophagus and propels food to small intestine; begins digestion of protein
Liver-->largest internal organ in the upper right quadrant of abdominal cavity; secrete bile
Large Intestine-->thick tube functions to absorb water and electrolytes, and forms feces
Nephron anatomy and physiology
Didnt know what to write here yayayaya
Major organs of the urinary system
glomerular capsule-->enclosing structure surrounding each glomerulus
glomerular capillaries-->very small blood vessels within the glomerulus of the kidney through which plasma is filtered
renal pelvis-->central collecting region in the kidney
ureter-->tube that carries urine from the kidney to the urinary bladder
urinary bladder-->hollow, muscular sac that holds and stores urine
Kidney-->filters waste from the blood like urea, water, salt and proteins.
Major functions of the digestive system
Digestion-->Mechanical and chemical breakdown of food into small particles and molecules that the body can absorb + use.
Mechanical Digestion-->Physical break down of food into smaller pieces
Esophagus-->Muscular tube that connects the mouth to the stomach
Major functions of the urinary system
Glomerulus-->Filters water and small substance from blood plasm
Filterate--> A liquid which has passed through a filter
Urea->waste product formed in the liver, filtered out of the blood by the kidneys, and excreted in urine
nephron-->functional unit of the kidney
Disorders of the digestive system
Gastreosophageal reflux disease--> When your stomach content come back up into your esophagus
irritable bowel syndrome-->group of symptoms that occur together, including repeated pain in your abdomen and changes in your bowel movements, which may be diarrhea, constipation, or both
Disorders of the urinary system
Bladder infections-->Bladder infections - (cystitis) usually caused by bacteri
Enlarged prostate - in men, this can make it difficult to empty the bladder.
Kidney infections - when a bladder infection 'backs up' the ureters.
