Confederation of the provences
why some provinces joined the confederation
Some provinces joined the confederation because they were scared of the US invading Canada, and some joined the confederation because they were suffering financial ruin but if they joined Canada Canada would pay off their debt
The Provence To Join Confederation and when
the provinces to join Canada first were Ontario, Quebec, Nova Scotia, and New Brunswick they all joined on July 1, 1867. At the time the two provinces that made up Canada were Quebec and Nova Scotia.
The next colonies to join were Manitoba and NWT. In 1871 BC joined the confederation after they were sent into debt during the gold rush. In 1873 PEI was looking for a way to escape financial problems so they the joined confederation. After all that 1800 stuff we are moving into the 1900 specifically 1905. Thats when Alberta and Saskatchewan joined Confederation
The Forming of confederation part 1
At first, Canada was ruled by the French and the British. They were called the northwestern territory and they were colonies. there were originally 3 of the colonies in the northwestern territories (Canada). One day they no longer wanted to be a part of Britain so some of the colonies joined in confederation.
the first colonies to join together were Ontario, Quebec, Nova Scotia, and New Brunswick. They Colonised because they wanted to be stronger if the US ever invaded Canada.
