Locke and Latham- to be performing on cruise ships
CLARITY- Specificity of the goal
As my goal is to be working on cruise ships- I need to make it more specific
S- Singing, dancing/ performing musicals on Cruise ships.
M- This can be measured by the success rate of auditions that I do and how close I get each time. I can track this by making a record of each audition I do and the process and what I did well in each one.
A- I do have the skills for this to be achievable if I keep working really hard on it, as of right now it's not going to happen but with more training and learning it will definitely be achievable.
R- This goal is relevant to me now as it's my main focus for why I am studying musical theatre/dance. It's why I am here training.
T- Ideally I would love this to achievable for me within at least the next 10 years as there's only so much time performers have especially with dance involved as well as they are more likely to hire younger fresh faced people.
By completing a small SMART target for my goals it makes me feel excited to work on all of these things to help my goal be to achievable and it also gives me a very clear understanding of the most effective way to reach this goal.
COMPLEXITY-Degree of goals demand's
If it starts to get too complex I will ensure that, I believe that for only a time being at this current stage. It's not, not going to achiveable at this current time it needs to be broken down and taken more time on.
It's all about finding a balance and although it's difficult and a hard goal to reach especially because it's so competitive. I have to ensure that I am still also taking care of myself and doing stuff for myself.
I's also important to recognise that goals can be modified especially along the process you may discover you may not actually want this anymore and it's not for you.
FEEDBACK-presence of progress reporting
I am going to apply feedback by creating my own personal goal diary and break it down into smaller chunks. Another good way is using technology or videos or tracking apps etc.. to look back and reflect on your achievements.
It's important that I don't just listen to other peoples feedback but my own feedback and my own reflection on what I have and have not achieved.
I also think it's important to learn how to ask for feedback and take it respectfully and understand that everything is a work in progress and to be constructive can be good for achieving.
CHALLENGE- degree of goal's difficulty
This goal to me is challenging it's going to be hard to achieve however it's a work in progress. So many people also follow and want the same goal as me which makes the competition hard.
It's all about reaching milestones and becoming aware once achieved a milestone and not the goal so much as of right now much what milestones I've reached to help me get closer.
This will prove to be a challenge because I have to find a way for myself to stand out to everyone else to prove what makes me worthy of the job over someone else. I need to find my own unique and personal style/quality's.
There will be problems along the way but I think I have enough persistence to understand and help me to reach for it.
COMMITMENT- Attachment to goal
I can imagine and have imagined what my life would look like once achieving this goal I have understood how cruise ships work, the kind of lifestyle you will live and what benefits and what negatives coke from working on a cruise ship.
Even though things will be tough at times I think it's important to realize that everything in this industry is really tough and without hard work, dedication and commitment nothing is going to come from it.
I have visualized and committed myself to this as I have began loads of research, I wrote about this is my previous portfolio so it links back to how much I really see myself doing this in the future
