Non-verbal communication refers to the ways in which beings convey information about their emotions, needs, intentions, attitudes, and thoughts without the use of verbal language, either through body language or facial expressions.
Visual communication is the practice of using visual elements to get a message across, inspire change, or evoke an emotion. Examples of visual communication include infographics, process diagrams, flow charts, roadmaps, charts and graphs, visual reports, presentations, mind maps

Use words the other person will understand (e.g. simple English if you are talking to a foreigner).
Change whether you are talking formally or informally. For example, if you are using slang in the workplace, then it might not help your career, whereas it would be appropriate for friends.
Use appropriate body language for different situations. For example, you should look interested if someone is formally telling you something, whereas if you are just talking to friends then you don't need to be so formal.
You should use different ways of communicating visually depending on the person. For example, if someone if colour blind or has a disability.
