The Apprentice should show how they have sought feedback on their performance. This could be from their manager, colleagues they have worked with, internal or external customers or members of their team. They should show how they have acted on this feedback and the impact it had on their performance and overall capability.

CS14. Plans their own development; shows commitment to the job and the profession

The Apprentice should evidence their CPD record, explaining how they identify areas for development and ways to address them. Their CPD record and overall approach to their work should show a commitment to their job and to the profession.

CS15. Builds effective working relationships with business managers (using the language of the business), peers and other HR functions, together with relevant external organisations.

The Apprentice should provide examples of building effective working relationships with business managers, peers, other HR functions and relevant external organisations. In each example they should explain the approach they took to building the relationship, thinking about the styles and language used in communication, methods of communication and types of information shared and consider how this supported them in building an effective relationship.


CS16. Communicates confidently with people at all levels, including senior management.

The Apprentice should demonstrate throughout their evidence that they are able to communicate confidently with people at all levels including senior management, team members, colleagues, internal and external customers, and relevant external organisations. Evidence should show how they use language appropriate to the business and the audience.

B1. Adapts positively to changing work priorities and patterns, ensuring key business and HR deadlines continue to be met.

The Apprentice should provide at least 1 example of how their work priorities and patterns have had to change and show how they remained positive and adapted to the changes. Within the example, the apprentice should evidence how the key business and HR deadlines were met.

B2. Curious about HR/business trends and developments, incorporating them into their work.

The Apprentice should explain how they stay up to date with HR / business trends and developments. They should provide examples to show how they implement these developments in their own work.

B3. Displays tenacity and proactivity in the way they go about their role, staying positive when under pressure

The apprentice should provide examples to show how they demonstrate tenacity and a proactive approach to their work and explain the techniques they use to support them to remain positive when under pressure.

B4. Deals positively with setbacks when they occur.

The Apprentice should provide examples to show how they deal with any setbacks and explain how they remain positive, including any techniques they use to support them.


The Apprentice should evidence various methods they have used to stay up to date with business changes and HR legal / policy /process changes relevant to their role. Examples could cover changes within their organisation as well as wider changes within the sector or HR in general.
