- - - - Example 1: Imperialism is used to gain better resources and give themselves an upper hand. This creates a rush to gain as many territories as they can to give their country a better advantage and to not be left behind.
      - Example 2: having more land and resources is also a way for a country to show off their military power in taking land from others, as well as their newfound wealth. Countries would want to show their power through gaining territory. This could lead to them even fighting each other over land.
      - Example 3: This also effected Militarism. Countries would rush to gain arms to better take over different lands.
- - - - Evidence 1: Many alliances were made in secret, creating distrust and suspicion between countries.
      - Evidence 2: Alliances changed from peaceful defense to promises of military help. Their willingness to help their allies doubled chances of war.
      - Evidence 3: Alliances were mostly made when war seemed possible, so this preparation created more tension.
