Main causes of WW1
Militarism: The belief that a country should develop a strong military base to use it forcefully to spread national desires.
Militarism acts as a serving principle for imperialism and imperialist ideas. In order to spread imperialism (said national desires), militarism comes into play. This doesn't just cause tension, it causes a full-on and immediate conflict as it is by force rather than by debate.

Nationalism: the belief that your country is better than every other one in all aspects with absolutely no flaws.
The constant expression of "My country is so much better than yours" will eventually cause tension between people, leading to conflict between countries and eventually, the war.
