Organisms & Toxin in Blood - Coggle Diagram
Organisms & Toxin in Blood
Bacteraemia
Doesn't always cause disease > removed by macros, circ monocytes & neutrophils
Prelude dev septicaemia or pyraemia
Presence bacteria (path or non-path) in bloodstream
Can escape capil lumens in org/tiss > x IS spaces & loose CT >> abscesses & inflam lesions
Septicemia
Aerobic bacteria
= circulatory failure = shock
Septic shock
Most toxins produced by bacteria = necrolytic
Invasion of bloodstream by pathogenic bacteria w/ x of & toxin production
Endothelial cells first affected > extravasation of plasma & blood (oedema & haemorrhage) > @ capill level (petechiae) > loss plasma from capil bed > hypovolaemia > circ collapse (shock) > passive congestion of org?tiss
Endotoxins - gram neg bacteria
chemical mediator systems of plasma > inapp activation of regulatory biochem pways >> SIRS or DIC >> endotoxaemic shock
Viraemia
Haemorrhagic viraemias = x in, injure or cause necrosis of endothelial cells > widespread petechiation > SIRS > DIC w/ sev fatal haemorrhage
Haemorrhagic viraemia vs septicaemia >> microb cultures
Presence viruses in bloodstream
Pyaemia
Culprits = staphylococcus & steptococcus
E.g. mastitis
Where - x in blood, localize in parenchymatous orgs > abscesses
Presence pyogenic bacteria in bloodstream
Toxaemia = presence any toxin in bloodstream
Endotoxaemia = presence any toxin in bloodstream, irrespective of whether toxin was produced in bloodstream or elsewhere
Enterotoxaemia = presence of toxins in bloodstream originating from intestinal lumen
Shock = circ failure >> under perfusion tissues & decr venous return
Cardiogenic
Hypovolemic
Septic/toxic
Neurogenic
