And cholesterol synthesis, which reduce
Low density lipoprotein

hyperlipidemia
Prevention of cardiovascular disease
Mixed dyslipidemia
Reduce rusk if heart attack
Nursing considerations

Ezetimibe
MECHANISM OF ACTION
Ezetimibe mediates its blood cholesterol-lowering effect via selectively inhibiting the absorption of cholesterol and phytosterol by the small intestine without altering the absorption of fat-soluble vitamins and nutrients.3 The primary target of ezetimibe is the cholesterol transport protein Niemann-Pick C1-Like 1 (NPC1L1) protein.
INDICATIONS
treat high blood cholesterol.
∆You may also be prescribed ezetimibe if you cannot take cholesterol-lowering medicines called statins, or if a statin medicine does not work for you.
Ezetimibe s available on prescription only. It comes as tablets.
NURSING CONSIDERATIOS :
**CONTRAINDICATIONS
Hypersensitivity
Acute liver disease
unexplained laboratory evidence of liver disease; > >Moderate or severe hepatic insufficiency
Concurrent use of fibrates.
SIDE EFFECTS
Abdominal fullness.
black tarry stools.
blood in urine or stools.
darkened urine.
gaseous abdominal pain.
general tiredness or weakness.
Large, hive-like swelling on face, eyelids, lips, tongue, throat, hands, legs, feet, sex organs.
**ROUTE OF ADMINISTRATION
administered orally once daily with or without meals with a cholesterol-lowering diet. The dose is 10 mg daily.
STORAGE
Store ezetimibe at room temperature between 59°F and 86°F (15°C and 30°C).
Keep this drug away from high temperatures.
Don't store this medication in moist or damp areas, such as bathrooms.
CLOFIBRATE
MECHANISM OF ACTION
Clofibrate increases the activity of extrahepatic lipoprotein lipase (LL), thereby increasing lipoprotein triglyceride lipolysis. Chylomicrons are degraded, VLDLs are converted to LDLs, and LDLs are converted to HDL. This is accompanied by a slight increase in secretion of lipids into the bile and ultimately the intestine.
INDICATIONS
used to lower high levels of cholesterol (a type of fat) in the blood.
good at lowering triglycerides and very-low-density lipoprotein (VLDL) (a form of cholesterol).
NURSING CONSIDERATIONS
SIDE EFFECTS
headache
muscle aches
gastrointestinal upset
CONTRAINDICATIONS
patients with known hypersensitivity
severe liver or kidney impairment
cirrhosis
during pregnancy and breastfeeding
ROUTE OF ADMINISTRATION
Taken orally
STORAGE
Store the medicine in a closed container at room temperature, away from heat, moisture, and direct light.
