- - - - Nikita Khrushchev, the First Secretary of the Communist Party of the Soviet Union from 1953 to 1964 and the Premier of the Soviet Union from 1958 to 1964, was considered by many to be a charismatic leader. Khrushchev was known for his energetic and passionate speeches, as well as his ability to connect with people from various backgrounds. His informal and sometimes blunt style of communication, along with his efforts to reform the Soviet Union and ease tensions during the Cold War, contributed to his charismatic image.
      - Nikita Khrushchev's "Secret Speech" at the 20th Congress of the Communist Party in 1956 denounced Joseph Stalin's policies, actions, and his of personality. The speech marked a turning point in Soviet history, started a period of de-Stalinization, liberalization, and reform within the Communist Party and the Soviet Union, while also having significant international repercussions.

For example, they claimed that the CIA was behind the assassination of President Kennedy, that the United States was developing biological weapons to use against other countries, and that the US was secretly controlling the world economy.
      - The Soviet Union also sought to portray the United States as an imperialistic power that sought to dominate and exploit other countries. They highlighted US involvement in various conflicts around the world, such as the Vietnam War/
      - Soviet propaganda often depicted US leaders, such as Presidents Truman and Reagan, as war hungry and aggressors. They used cartoons, posters, and other forms of media to portray these leaders as ruthless and evil.
      - The Soviet Union also promoted socialism as a superior alternative to capitalism and democracy, which they claimed were flawed and corrupt. They portrayed the Soviet system as one that offered equality, prosperity, and social justice to its citizens.
      - The Soviet Union also criticized American culture, particularly its consumerism and materialism. They portrayed Americans as shallow and fake, obsessed with money and possessions, and lacking in spirituality or moral values.

To look into alleged communist and socialist activity, the House Un-American Activity Committee was created. The Red Scare had a profound effect on American society and influenced political discourse and foreign policy for a very long time.
