MALFI CHARACTERS- BOSOLA - Coggle Diagram

- - - - its like bosola is unable to escape his identity as a murder, unable to escape the pledge he made to the brothers. despite his character development, he is unable too escape the shackles of his past self. perhaps this is an active demonstration of his belief at the start of the play that people are unable to change.
- - - - this idea of 'base quality of intelligencer', on the one hand he is looking forward to his reward for his villainy, however could this be an early indication of him questioning this role, there is awareness that this is not a noble or good action, he knows he is being cunning, the role that he is playing is tainting his soul?
- - - - bosola- changing allegiance starts to come In (although this is complex as he still enacts the execution) but he is greatly affected by her distress, yet he is still diabolical. In this scene he vows to always be disguised when he sees her, he no longer wants to be associated- we can criticise him for being a coward, he's still conducting these acts of terror, he's still a key character within this scene of tourment, and yet he doesn't want her to associate him with it- perhaps this signifies the recognition that he is doing wrong.
        
        shame in his actions, the two parts of himself are conflicted, by pohysically masking himself he can play a part rather than be actively choosing to be that diabolical figure,
        he doesn't feel that he can extricate himself from this situation because he has no other prospects.
  - - - is he trying to offer her comfort, or is he offering distress? its a point for evaluation.
      - bosola is NOT THE EXECUTIONER, he is there, but does not actually carry it out. he presents to her the executioners and the objects that will be used to mark her death, but he is a bystander.
        
        ferdinands retraction, complete reversal of his orders. that, coupled with the duchess brief reccusitation calling out 'mercy' that trigger his metamorphosis to avenger.
