Electrical Systems :red_flag: :star::+1:
What is an electricity system
Can be used to produce other forms of energy like heat and light
Many Components make a electrical system
When components are joined, it is a path for a complete circuit
Electricity is a form of energy
The path through which electricity flows is the electric circuit
What is a simple electric system made of?
Includes energy source(battery), wires, bulb and switch(maybe)
Battery
made of a positive and negative end
When two poles of battery are connected, it forms a closed electric system
Wire
Made of conductors of electricity such as copper
Covered with plastic or rubber
Switch
switch made to control flow of electricity
Circuit is complete when switch is closed
When open, circuit is broken so that forms open circuit
Bulb, one kind of electric device
-glass bulb(prevent filament from getting damaged)
Wire to connect filament to metal tip and metal casing
Metal casing connected to other parts of the electric system
filament (tungsten) to produce light and heat
Metal tip, connected to other components of electric circuit
How does electric current flow in a circuit
Open Circuit
Switch can be used to close or open a circuit
When not properly connected, there is a open circuit. or there is a gap or break in the circuit
Connections in a bulb
metal tip and casing must be connected to different ends of a battery
a bulb will not light up if metal tip or casing is not connected to the battery or bulb blows
Two ways of connecting a bulb. Negative to casing, positive to tip or vice versa
Series or parallel
Series is when only there is one path for electricity to flow through, parallel is the opposite of that
If one bulb in a parallel is removed, the circuit would work
Closed Circuit
Electricity can only follow in a closed or complete circuit
In a closed circuit, electricity flows from the battery through wires to other electrical components and back into the battery.
What are electrical conductors and Insulators
Electrical Conductors
Electrical conductors are materials that allow electricity to flow through
Metal or mercury(can also be liquid)
Good conductors of electricity
Silver is better conductor than copper
electrical conductors are
good conductors
of heat
Electrical Insulators
Insulators dont allow electricity to flow through
non metals
Insulators can prevent electric shocks
Circuit Tester
circuit testers are used to find out if the material is a conductor or electricity
A circuit tester is to distinguish electrical conductors and insulators
When an electrical conductor is connected to the circuit, the bulb lights up
When an electrical insulator is connected to the circuit, the bulb would not light up
