Fatty Acids (monomer from Lipids) - Coggle Diagram
Fatty Acids (monomer from Lipids)
Saturated
The chain hast the full amount of Hydrogens
Carbons don't have a double bond in the carbon next to it in the chain
UN - Saturated
The chain has not all the amount of Hydrogens
As some carbons don't have all their connections, they do double bonds with the carbon next to them
Categories
Depending on the position of the missing Hydrogens
TRANS - fatty acids
Hydrogens are balanced, the missing ones are in opposite sides
Linear shape/structure
CIS - fatty acids
Hydrogens that are missing are in the same side the monomer is imbalanced
Curved shape/structure
Depending on the number of double bonds
MONOunsaturated
There is only one double bong
POLYunsaturated
There is 2 or more double bonds on the chain
