Consequences of Climate Change - Coggle Diagram
Consequences of Climate Change
social:
positive
As winters will start to warm, heating costs may lower significantly.
Higher chance of increased tourism as temperatures rise.
negative
Over 600 million people live in coastal areas that are less than 10m above sea level, and they would all certainly be affected should sea levels dramatically rise, which they are predicted to do so.
People living in vulnerable areas may have to move house or even country, which can seriously affect their social lives.
Climate change may force people to take on new and different jobs which may affect their personal income.
environmental:
positive
Some crops and plants thrive in the warmer weather and can be grown easier, however, there is a drawback as rogue plants such as weeds also grow quicker and easier in hotter temperatures.
Carbon dioxide levels in the air will help to naturally fertilise some crops and plants.
negative
Sea levels rise eroding into coastlines and removing large amounts of coastal land and also, as the ocean gets warmer some species will die off as they can't adapt to survive in the warmer temperatures, this would happen across the world in different oceans.
Also more severe types of weather will strike areas such as the UK, for example doughts, floods etc.
Fresh water sources could start to diminish or be polluted by salty seawater.
economic:
positive
As climate change becomes more of a problem infrastructure will be 'greener' and will create jobs for those unemployed.
negative
The agriculture industries across the world, especially in the UK will diminish as most crops struggle to grow properly in the new climates meaning that a whole industry is almost completely wiped out which can seriously affect the economy of a country.
Many world cities will be affected by flooding affecting economies internationally as well as nationally in some countries.
A lot of agricultural land will be lost to flooding and effect's that countries' economy.
Systems of transport could be destroyed or damaged.
To protect countries from erosion and from the sea eating into land a large amount of money will have to be spent of coastal defences.
Many countries rely on tourism as their main industry, but this could be affected as beaches are flooded forcing places such as hotels to close and people may decide to not go to visit that country.
Mass migration and many security threats
