Consequences of climate change - Coggle Diagram
Consequences of climate change
Agriculture and Food
Climate change can effect the production and the type of crops in a certain area by affecting the agricultural inputs such as water for irrigation, and amounts of solar radiation that affect the growth of plants
According to a report by North American Electric Reliability Corporation, climate change will impact the production differently in different areas. Areas that are already warm and dry will have a negative impact. Highland areas will have increased production while lowlands will suffer from drought
Water
Lacking access to water is an issue of concern, particularly in developing countries, and climate change is making this problem more extreme.
Floods due to heavy downpours are a major problem the UK could be facing
Water scarcity creates competition for water between people and countries
Sea Levels
Sea level rise is due to thermal expansion and ice sheets melting.
Warmer seas will fuel more intense tropical storms.
Crops like peaches, oranges and apples can now be grown in the UK
Better transportation system and less accidents due to less extreme winters
Ecosystem + Biodiversity
Has the potential to create biodiversity loss
May affect individual species
Habitats and ecosystems may be affected
Health
higher levels of air pollutants
more spread of disease
Better environments for disease spreading insects such as mosquitos
