Energy resources
Renewables
Resources that will not run out as they harvest resources that are constantly renewed. They are generally better for the environment.
-
Non-renewables
Resources that will run out faster than they are created. (if they even can be created) They store fuels so can generate to power demand
Thermal Power Plants
Burning fuel creates lots of heat. Water in the boiler is turned to steam. It has a high pressure so it rushes into the turbine which will spin a generator providing electricity for the national grid.
The steam ha lost a lot of its energy now but it may need to be cooled in a cooling tower before being fed back into the boiler

Nuclear fuels
-
Very complex, expensive and time consuming to build. Produces harmful nuclear waste that i difficult to dispose of .
Fossil Fuels
-
Damage the environment by releasing carbon dioxide into the atmosphere, enhancing the greenhouse effect.
Coal and Oil also produce other harmful chemicals like sulfur dioxide, causing acid rain.
Energy Stores
Kinetic
Gravitational
Elastic
Thermal

The National Grid
Network of wires and transformer that transit in 2 directions to provide power for homes and industry.
