      - Can lead to malnutrition, like in Chad and Ethiopia
      - Low quality of life
    - - Countries without many raw materials like coal, oil or metal ores tend to mkae less money
      - Fewer products to sell
      - Less money to spend on development
      - Some countries do have alot of raw materials, but dont have the the money to develop the infrastrucutre to exploit them, like roads and ports, so they arent very developed
    - - It can be more expensive for landlocked cou8ntries to transport goods in and out of the country
      - Harder to make money by exporting goods
      - Less money to spend on devlopment
      - Harder to import goods that might help the country develop, likke medicine and farm machinery
    - - More natural disasters, hearder to rebuild after
      - Increase in disease, lower workforces
      - Crops failing, less income and less food
      - More conflict over natural resources

      - Health care worsens and infant mortality increases
      - Money is spent on arms and fighting instead of development
      - Countries have to spend money repairing the damage
    - - LIDCs often borrow money
      - This money had to be payed back with interest, so and money the country does make cant be used to develop
      - LIDCs may not have enough money to pay for health and education
      - IMF lends out money to development but on strict conditions that countries repay their debts and cut spending
      - In 2003, 30 of the world's poorest countries benefitted from debt relief, so they can now spend money on essential services
    - - Corrupt governments can hinder development
      - By taking money intended for building new infrastructure and facilities
      - If a government is unstable, companies and other countries aren't likely to invest or want to trade, meaning development stays low
      - Governments need to invest in the right things to help a country develop
      - Civil wars can disrput services and production of food and goods aswell as displacing people
    - - The exchange of goods and services
      - Countries that import goods and services of greater value than they export have a trade deficit
      - Less money coming in than going out
      - If a country had poor trade links, it wont make alot of money, less to spend on development
      - Most of the increase in trade has been in ACs
      - Much of world trade is controlled by TNCs, based in ACs, means all the profits come back to the country where it is based
    - - Educating people produces a more skilled workforce
      - The country can produce more goods and offer more services
      - This can bring money into the country, through trade or invesement
      - Educated people also earn more ,so they pay more taxes
      - This provides money the country can spend on development
    - - Helped Europe develop, by slowed down development in the colonies
      - Led to debt and political unrest
