Water Waste In Agriculture - Coggle Diagram
Water Waste In Agriculture
Droughts
Climate change is causing droughts
Droughts are not allowing farmers to rely on rainwater
Farmers must irrigate their crops because of this
Water Scale
Only 3 percent of the earth's water is fresh, drinkable water
Of that 3 percent, only 1 percent of it is accessable
Of that 1 percent, only 50 percent of it is in lakes
Reducing Water Waste
When using sprinkler you can use 5-15% water in a relatively cheap way.
For a more expensive water waste reduction method use the drip system. It uses 20% less water than sprinkles. This will work as long as the irrigation system works perfectly
Farmers Irrigating Crops
Farmers must irrigate their crop fields and use lots of water doing it
Irrigation water is usually exposed to chemicals and pesticides
This means that the water can not be filtered and reused
Used water will then cause climate change
Industry Mass in Farming
Russia, India, and Canada have the most available agriculture space
However, America and India have the most available land not used for farming
India, China, and the US export the most crops
Popular a corn, rice, and soybeans
According to a study in 2000, 65% of the world's freshwater is used in Agriculture.
India and China waste/infect the most water while farming
Asia and Africa use 85-90% of their freshwater on Agriculture
Main Idea:
People need to know about the water scarcity and new solutions need to be created.
