The early modern period, from the Renaissance to the eve of the French Revolution, was an important period for Europe to transform from a traditional agricultural society to a modern commercial society. Many major changes in human history, such as the Renaissance, Reformation, Scientific Revolution, and Enlightenment, took place during this period. Previous research on early modern times mostly emphasized changes in various aspects of society and the driving forces that caused them, such as individualism, commercialization, and capitalism, but did not pay enough attention to an important aspect of social transformation, that is, social reconstruction.
