Verb
An action or state of being
Examples: Walk, froze, smile, looking, running, falling, eating, drinking, talking, writing
Preposition
Examples: After, before, on, under, inside, outside
To show direction, time, place and location between two nouns
Conjunction
Words that join two parts of a sentence
Examples: And, or, but, then, because
Pronoun
A word that can replace a noun in a sentence
Examples: He, she, they, we
Noun
A person, place or thing
Table, chair, Mona Lisa, Germany, yourself, tv, phone, football, America, book, pencil, school
Interjection
Expresses something in a sudden or exclamatory way, especially an emotion
Examples: Uh-oh, wow, ouch, ugh, woohoo
Adjective
Describes a noun
Examples: Silly, brave, kind, helpful, funny, happy, terrifying, horrible, crazy, fist-clenching, teeth-gritting
Adverb
A word that modifies a verb or adjective. They often end in -ly
Examples: Really, loudly, kindly, openly
