Events of her life
Childhood & Youth
Because of her father's job, she spent her childhood and youth in Tarragona, Cádiz, Londres and Cartagena.

In 1936, she worked as an English teacher in Valencia.
Adulthood
Besides writing she also translated other author's works such as Agatha Christie's, Iris Murdoch's, E.M. Forster's and, mainly, Sylvia Plath's, who was really inspiring to her.
She then started publishing her poetry books and she also translated Catalan, classical works into English.
After the Civil War, in 1939 she was forced to go into exile to France, and some time later to Chile, where she lived for almost 20 years. In 1960 she moved back to Barcelona.

1999, Crítica Serra d'Or Award for "Dins l'esfera del temps".
2003, Cavall Verd-Josep M. Llompart Award for "Al cor de les paraules" (1963-2002 poetic work).
2008, Honor de las Letras Catalanas Award.
2008, National Prize of Catalonia for her professional and artistic career.
